Good news and an update on Shaping Newport!
Between November last year and this spring, we were commissioned by Newport Parish Council and Business Association to run public consultations and draw together the Place Plan for the Isle of Wight’s country town, Newport.
Here’s our summary and the link to the Place Plan itself – thanks to everyone who contributed!
Since then, there’s been all sorts of progress:
*An Isle of Wight Council application to the Great British High Street Competition which has put Newport in the Rising Star Category – this is national recognition of the efforts under way for positive change!
*An amazing photography series collated featuring Newport’s architecture and green space (look out for the great images by Julian Winslow)
*and the new appointment of Town Centre Area Regeneration Programme Manager, otherwise known as Claire. Congratulations & good luck, Claire!  Keep an eye out on the Facebook page Shaping Newport!
We continue to support the steering group on a voluntary basis – great to see the heart in the heart of the Island!

The Christmas Shaping Newport consultation. Over 3000 people took part, through online and paper questionnaires, public meetings, workshops, meetings and correspondence. A scored ‘Place Standard’, together with 15,000 individual comments and suggestions, from people of all ages, produced a data set big enough to reveal a clear pattern of local priorities for change.
