Sandown Bay for Best British Beach!

Sandown Bay is up for Best British Beach in the 2019 Countryfile Awards, on a shortlist of just 6, one of only 2 in England, and the only one in the south!  It’s a tremendous accolade and a timely reminder of just how spectacular The Bay really is, for people, for wildlife, for scenery and seascape. It’s the whole lot by the way – Culver to Horse Ledge, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin, all connected by the Bay and its enormous beach.

Please do make sure to vote… it would be an amazing booster for the Isle of Wight, especially in Biosphere year, and such a vote of confidence in a place that’s often underestimated and talked down. If you’d like to explore the Bay, do feel free to join us on any of the free, spare time events the collective team here run under our Discovery Bay banner.

Neighbouring Bembridge is up for Village of the Year too by the way, also a shortlist of 6, so there’s potentially an Island double on the cards!

Voting open to everyone anywhere and runs till 17th Feb.
