We are delighted to announce that The Bay Coastal Community Team in partnership with the The National Poo Museum and the Isle of Wight Council, have secured a £50,000 Coastal Revival Fund towards the continued restoration of Sandown Barrack Battery.

Arc and partners oversaw the first phase of Recharging the Battery, helping to breathe life back into what’s a real gem in Sandown Bay’s crown. A scheduled monument, this 19th century cliff-top fort and well-loved gardens overlooks the sea and the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty that bookend the Bay.

Finding imaginative meanwhile use (something the team here advocate and advise on) has helped to put the Battery back on the map… as well as the venue for The Common Space’s annual community celebration, The Christmas Garden, the Battery is soon to be home to the artist-inspired National Poo Museum, the Island’s number 2 attraction….

All in all, 25 projects around the country have been awarded between them just under £1million – and the Island has punched way above its diminutive weight to secure funding for not one but three projects.  As well our win for the Battery, Northwood House’s Rotunda, and Ryde Esplanade’s Dining Car project have received news of funding.  Congratulations all!
